with some foxing as seen and mounting residue on back that does not
affect the image. It is signed by Varina Davis for her husband.
The photographer mark is Washburn - New Orleans and very
desirable......REDUCED $695.00
3.
This is a FINE one-ninth plate RUBY ambrotype of a
seated Union Infantryman in regulation uniform with his Model 1858
canteen and the attached over-the-shoulder sling across his chest.
The image is crystal clear and in a
beautiful thermoplastic case which is "Constitution and the Laws" - Berg
1-131.....It's extremely rare to see Union or Confederate
soldiers pictured with their canteen and sling.
One photo was taken out of the case and
next to a light to show the high quality Bohemian Ruby Glass.
Here's a fine image and case for the sophisticated
image collector....REDUCED...$650.00

all the Gold Braid they can hold and attached to the kepi is an
early havelock.....The image is by New Orleans' Photographer S. Anderson
and the Officer is IDENTIFIED as William Smith. This would be a great
research project....we did a cursory check and found more than one High
Ranking Officer named William Smith.......$775.00

5.
This great image was purchased from an estate in Missouri some time back
and not previously offered. The image and period identification
were removed from an album sleeve that had been torn as shown. The
note reads "This was cousin James Bray? - rode with Bill Anderson
killed Missouri - 1863". This could be a real sleeper - we haven't
done any research and it's fresh to the market.........$1,495.00
6.
This
incredible wet plate, albumen photograph was displayed and featured for many years at
The Lotz House Civil War Museum in Franklin, Tennessee.
Mathew Brady was at Petersburg when the Surrender at Appomattox
was underway and there was no photographic record of the Huge Event.
A sketch artist recorded for history all that were present on Both
Sides. From the sketch a painting was done and the painting was photographed by Sarony - New York. This is THAT PHOTOGRAPH.
The image of a Worn and Tattered General Lee is haunting!
Everyone is
identified in period writing and the details are incredible. The
photograph measures 12" X 17" and is mounted to a 18" X 21"
period Sarony printed card stock. The museum piece comes in a
period oak frame. There is probably not another one like
it............... $2,500.00
